Clubs and associations

Christiansø clubs and associations

What do you do during the off season?” – we hear this question from curious tourists time and again. We also hear it from family and friends on the mainland.

Mostly, activities are organised by our many active clubs and associations, which give the island its own distinctive identity and have helped to keep proud island traditions alive for generations. Yes, life on the island varies greatly in summer and winter, but one thing is for certain: Our clubs and associations flourish all year round, offering a long list of events.

Most events are for club and association members only, but there are also open events. For example, the famed balls at Månen attract people from far and wide.

Christiansø Støtteforening

This association was established in 1938. to support life in the broadest sense for people who live on the island. For example, they plan and host many of the island’s time-honoured events. The association can also provide financial support – upon application – for initiatives that promote life on the island.

Activities

Sankt Hans Ball, TV-2 concert, Summer Carnival, Children’s Carnival, Summer Ball, Bingo for Kids, Bingo for Adults, Autumn Ball, Lighting of the Christmas Tree, Christmas Tree Party, Christmas Ball, New Year’s Ball, Winter Carnival, Whitsun Ball, etc.

Christiansø Kanonérlaug

Christiansø Kanonérlaug started in 2018 – with the assistance of Humlebæk Havns Kanonérer. The guild comprises resident volunteers who fire the Kongens Bastion canons with black powder in salute on special occasions.

In 2019, there are plans to fire canon salutes on the following days:

  • Sunday 23 June – Sankt Hans Aften (Midsummer’s Eve)
  • Monday 30 September – Georg Stage calls at the port
