Every year, Christiansø receives around 40,000 visitors. Most are day-trippers, and some spend one or a few nights here. Regardless of how much time our guests spend with us, we strive to give them the best possible experience.
There are several options for accommodation: Gæstgiveriet Hotel, Ballonen – an old prison converted into a hostel, Hestehytten cabin and the campsite. Regardless of where you wish to stay, availability is limited during peak season (late-June to late-July), so be sure to make your reservation early if you want to stay the night on the island.
As for local dining options, you have the inn and the kiosk/grill bar. But we also recommend bringing a picnic to enjoy at one of our picnic spots or out on the rocks. There is also a small grocer’s shop where you can buy refreshments.
Enjoy the landscape, the buildings, the fortifications and the animal life while you’re here. And the museums in Store Tårn and Lille Tårn are definitely worth a visit. You may even get a chance to experience some of the distinctive islander culture here, although that typically requires staying here for more than a day or two.
